WHAT WILL MY CHILD LEARN AT CENTRAL?

Abeka

Our Preschool teachers use a research-based curriculum from Abeka, which has been proven throughout the years to lay the fundamental skills needed to read and write while effectively building a solid foundation in Christ. Furthermore, the Abeka curriculum prepares children adequately for kindergarten and a lifetime of successful learning experiences.

Through the curriculum, your children will learn to recognize the individual letters and sounds of the alphabet to become effective readers. Children will also learn the fine motor skills needed to have great penmanship. Abeka curriculum will give your children math concepts such as one-to-one correspondence, sets, classifying, and comparing. Along with learning the basic skills needed for reading, writing, and arithmetic, your children will learn about the world around them through creative exploration and play. Children will develop relational, social-emotional skills, independence, critical thinking, and reasoning skills. They will be exposed to music, science, language, art, and much more! Play also encourages divergent thinking, and helps to create a storehouse of memories that will be beneficial to them as they learn to become successful adults. Note: All Central Weekday Preschool lesson plans are developed to meet the goals set within the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development. This Foundations document was developed by the North Carolina Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC), Division of Child Development and Early Education (DCDEE), and the Department of Public Instruction. It provides one document for North Carolina that articulates our state's goals for children on a continuum that includes infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
