Meet the Elementary School Team
The faculty and staff of CCA are committed to nurturing and developing every student academically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Lead Pastor
Dr. Ed Rose
Dr. Rose has served as lead pastor of Central since March of 2000. He received a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master of Divinity in Christian Education.

CCA Director of Operations
Evette Orcutt, MDiv
Mrs. Orcutt has been on staff at Central since 2001. She has served as Children’s Minister, Church Administrator and Weekday Preschool Director. She is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a Master of Divinity in Christian Education, and a graduate of Appalachian State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
CCA Lower Grade Principal
Gina Whitman, MSA
Mrs. Whitman received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Barton College and her Master’s in School Administration. She has 10+ years of educational experience with the Wake and Johnston County Public School Systems. She comes to us following God’s call, and she is excited about impacting the children in our community through Kingdom education.
Second & Third Grade Teacher
Emily Benson
Emily is excited to join the Central staff and to have the amazing opportunity to start 2nd and 3rd grade here. She is married to Matt Benson, who is one of the pastors at Central and on staff here. They have two awesome boys, Ezra and Micah. Emily comes to us after having served with her family overseas with the International Mission Board. Prior to that, she taught for seven years in grades 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. Emily went to school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Sociology. She also was a student athlete for the cross-country and track team there. Emily is passionate about pointing her students to Jesus and helping them to gain a love for learning.
Chapel Coordinator
Matt Benson
Matt joined the Central staff in the summer of 2023 as our Associate Pastor to Kids (birth - 5th grade) and their families. He joins our team with years of experience serving churches in Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia as well as serving overseas with the International Mission Board. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at Liberty University and his Master of Divinity degree in Christian Ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Emily have two awesome boys-Ezra and Micah.
Kindergarten Teacher
Mallory Dunn
We are so excited to have Mrs. Dunn joining the CCA staff as our second Kindergarten teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Bio coming soon.
Spanish Teacher
Abigail Fuentes
Senora Fuentes completed her Bachelor’s degree in Child Life from East Carolina University. Her passion for working with children began when she took a child development class in high school. She has years of experience in child care. She was raised in a Christian home and, at the age of thirteen, received Jesus Christ as her Savior. She leads worship at her church. She was raised in Puerto Rico and she and her husband have two girls, Melody and Alina.
Director of Admissions
Corinne Germain
Corinne graduated with a BS in Business from Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, and has earned various certifications in bio-science, early childhood education, ESL, and TESOL. She taught ESL part-time online for preschool and elementary students alongside her management role in the biopharmaceutical industry. She was a full-time substitute for Johnson County Public Schools. Corinne has served in various ministries at Central since 2016. Corrine's husband serves as the director of the Central Arts Academy. They have two sons and a beagle named Rexx.
Kindergarten Teacher
Miray Mongeon
Ms. Mongeon received a BA with a minor in childcare from Bob Jones University in 2009 and MA in Early Childhood Education Leadership from Ashford University in 2020. She was a preschool teacher for 14 years at a Christian school in Hawaii and started as our Kindergarten teacher in 2023. She looks forward to partnering with parents to give children the tools to grow and develop their cognitive, spiritual, physical, social, emotional, academic, and skills.
Afterschool Director
Stephanie Rockwell
Stephanie recently joined the CCA team after moving from Whiteville, NC to Wendell for her husband's job. She has several years of teaching experience from ages 2 to pre-K at her previous church preschool, along with the role of preschool director. After visiting Central Church, the Lord led her to CCA. She is married and has one son who is away in law school. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and friends, cheering on the Tar Heels, hiking, reading, and weekend trips to the beach or mountains. Stephanie is a huge dog lover and has two dogs, Dennis, and Harriet!
First Grade Teacher
Jo Scott
Jo graduated from East Carolina University in 1993 with a BS in Child Development. Since then, she has worked in the field of child development in different capacities. For the past eight years she has been teaching in private Christian schools. Where she continued her passion for teaching children and building God's kingdom. She has been married to her husband, Nelson for thirty years and they have two adult children,. Carleigh, who is married and lives in Virginia and Jacob, who works for Gregory Poole Equipment Company in Raleigh as a diesel technician. She is so excited to be teaching first grade this year at CCA!
Education Specialist
Jennifer Spain
Mrs. Spain received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Meredith College with a K-6 teaching certificate, a Master’s degree in Special Education from North Carolina State University with a K-12 teaching certificate and Master’s degrees in Administration, School Supervision, and Curriculum and Instruction from East Carolina University where she received her Principal License. She has worked numerous years for the Wake County Public School System where she served as a Special Programs teacher, a School Administrator, and then retired as a Behavior Specialist. Mrs. Spain and her husband, Garry, raised their children at Central Baptist Church and she wants to continue to help the children in our community receive the best possible Kingdom education and love for our Lord and Savior.
Security Officer
Zach Strother
Zach possesses extensive experience in people management and safety despite his background primarily in the restaurant industry. With 20 years in hospitality, including 15 years as a General Manager, he excels in hiring, training, HR, and payroll. Notably, he spearheaded the launch of 8 restaurant locations, overseeing staff training and safety protocols. Zach is an expert at cultivating close bonds with regular guests and their families, demonstrating his commitment to service and community care. Zach is also a father of two who have both attended Central Christian Academy.
Chapel Coordinator
Robert Tatum
Robert joined our staff as the Student Pastor in 2018. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2013, and received his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2019. He and his wife Carrieanna have two children - Emma & Benjamin, who have attended CCA.

Director of Security
Brian Lane
Brian came to Central Church in 1994 and fell in love with a beautiful young lady (now wife Leigh Ann) that went to church here. They have two amazing kids MacKenzie(19) and Andrew(15). Brian is from Wendell and spent 27.5 years protecting and serving the great state of NC with the Highway Patrol and Knightdale Police Department. While on the Highway Patrol he was assigned to the Governor Security Detail for 14 years. He was also an instructor for this special detail. During his free time, Brian loves spending time with his family, building stuff, and playing golf.
